Zusammenfassung

One of the most important collateral effects that the Spanish economic crisis has caused is the rise in emigration. In spite of the fact that today the Spanish emigrants have more weight in the electoral census than ever, the emigrants have lost influence on the last four years electoral results. The 2015 Spanish electoral calendar is full of elections, but it is difficult that the emigrants who are permanent resident abroad can be decisive. This article analyzes how the reform of the LOREG article 75 has damaged the turnout of the Spanish emigrants. As a result of these legislative changes they cannot participate in the local elections and they have a lot of difficulties to participate in the rest of the elections.
