Abstract

Brass bands are one of the most popular kinds of musical ensembles; however, they are one of the less researched by the ethnographic and historiographic disciplines. This work studies, in depth, the specific case of brass bands in the city of Burgos. Despite resolute efforts, a municipal brass band was never formed. The particular circumstances of Burgos, especially its military importance, have conditioned the course along which brass bands in that city have evolved.
