Zusammenfassung

DESCRIPTION Microgrids are frequently presented as the future of power grids. However, the complexities in the planning process of some types of microgrids are preventing more investors from adopting them. The goal of this Ph.D. Thesis is to advance the state of the art of microgrid planning by creating a fast and investor-oriented feasibility analysis method for multi-building microgrids. An innovative combination of optimization and risk analysis algorithms select, size, and site the main components while scheduling the whole microgrid based on the goals and constraints previously defined by the investor. This method reduces the current modeling and simulation times, benchmarking the solutions identified as optimal with the ones suggested by the user according to long-term economic indicators, and analyzing the results from both a deterministic and a probabilistic standpoint. The method has been implemented in MATLAB and successfully applied to a campus of the University of Burgos. KEYWORDS Microgrid, Multi-building, feasibility, optimization, risk analysis
