Wilco Verbeeten obtained his MSc (August 1996) and PhD (November 2001) degrees from the Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands). His PhD thesis, with title "Computational Polymer Melt Rheology" (https://doi.org/10.6100/IR548738), was supervised by prof.dr.ir. Frank Baaijens and prof.dr.ir. Han Meijer, and was developed in the framework of the European BRITE-Euram project "Advanced Rheological Tool". Wilco Verbeeten has more than 20 years of experience in subjects such as processing, properties and the physics of polymer materials, and structural dynamics and control technology of machine-tools. He has worked in the Materials Technology research group at the Eindhoven University of Technology (April 1997-November 2001), at CIDAUT, a Center for Technology for Transport and Energy (April 2002-February 2007), and as a R&D Project Manager (December 2007-November 2010) at Nicolás Correa S.A., a machine-tool producer. Since December 2010 he is a Lecturer/Researcher at the Universidad de Burgos, first as a "Ramón y Cajal" research fellow and currectly as an Associate Profesor. His current research is focused on the structure-properties relations for polymer materials, including processing and rheology of polymer melts, structure development as a function of temperature and flow during processing, and the solid-state polymer mechanics. Among others, the influence of the processing step on the final mechanical properties of injection molded or additively manufactured (i.e. 3D printed) components is investigated. This research line comprises both numerical aspects (finite element methods, constitutive modelling), as well as experimental set-ups, techniques and applications.
