Abstract

This thesis analyzes the body values of 536 First Year Bachillerato students in the Castilla y León region of Spain during the academic year 2014/15, and 26 of their Physical Education teachers. The instrument of measurement is the test devised by Casares and Collados (1998), which divides body values into 10 categories. The most common trends linking PE students and teachers with contemporary Western society are examined, together with the most important differences between them. The results show pleasure value as the most fulfilling and religion as the least, with wide differences in dynamic value, PE teachers deriving most fulfilment from this latter component. Likewise, the results of the student data are compared in relation to their profile variables (gender, Bachillerato option, personality, qualifications and province administering the educational establishment they attend), showing that only the gender variable, and to a lesser extent the province, produce statistically significant differences
