Abstract

Considering the data gathered in a preliminary study, this research was carried out starting with the design of a didactical proposal in which the goal was to contribute for the improvement of elementary school teachers preparation and, consequently, for the science teaching and learning process as well. The research question was stated as: What effects would have upon in-service teachers methodologies and conceptions a didactical proposal whose basic feature is an integrative approach, based on concepts, associated with the use of instructional resources potentially facilitative of meaningful learning? The study was developed in 2005 through courses, minicourses and workshops. A better conscientization of the teachers about the importance of the Meaningful Learning Theory in the planning and implementation of science classes might be stressed as the main research finding.
