Abstract

The purpose of this work is to determine in what extent the human capital contributes to explain the competitiveness of an economy. For this, firstly, we analyse the evolution of this variables in the Latin-American countries. For this, we use a stock variable of human capital (the percentage of population aged 25 to 64 which finished secondary education at least) and an ex-post variable of competitiveness (the market share). Subsequently, we carry out a correlation analysis to determine the link between human capital and competitiveness.
