Résumé

This article analyzes the importance of the relationship between Social Psychology and Culture. First, we will address the problems facing the definition of culture. Later a series of both theoretical and practical issues related to the possible ethnocentric and western bias in this research will be studied. We will stress the importance of indigenous psychologies, the need to apply our theoretical knowledge to areas such as organizational studies, health and illness concepts, or leisure and tourism interactions. We will also address the relationship between personality theories and culture. Finally, the importance of a solid methodological basis in order to perform adequate cross-cultural research will be stressed (although this methodology may also be culture biased). The aim of the article, and the volume, is to show both a theoretical and practical panorama which will allow this knowledge to be applied in our current world.
