Resumen

La Iniciativa de la Ayuda para el Comercio, lanzada en 2005 durante la Sexta Conferencia Ministerial de la Organización Mundial del Comercio, pretende articular una estrategia coherente de apoyo al comercio como motor de crecimiento y reducción de la pobreza en los países en desarrollo. Se ha ampliado tanto el alcance conceptual de este tipo de intervenciones (sobrepasando los límites de la clásica asistencia técnica) como la cobertura de países beneficiarios (teniendo en cuenta no sólo a los países menos avanzados, sino también a los países de renta media �entre ellos, los latinoamericanos�). El objetivo de este artículo es identificar y analizar las principales características de los flujos de ayuda para el comercio en el caso de 17 países latinoamericanos, valorando hasta qué punto dichas características se adecuan a las necesidades y prioridades de los países receptores.
