Resum

Advances in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in educational settings places us in contact with teachers and students that teach, learn and collaborate together using their Personal Learning Environments (PLE). In this context, ethical principles that can guide teaching and research-related processes are called for. Our work seeks to identify these principles and define measures for their appraisal, while likewise respecting fundamental values such as privacy, equality and collaboration. The method we follow is based on the review of expert contributions and their application in a research-action process, with on-line follow up, into the use of Personal Learning Environments for the improvement of digital and linguistic skills at an Italian educational centre. The results are the detection of possible improvements in the implementation of ethical principles and the excellent experience rating of the participants. It concludes with a summary of the proposed ethical practices that can be followed in future experiences.
