Abstract
This work deals with the use of meaningful learning within the practical laboratory work on Thermodynamics in engineering courses. We present a case study on meaningful learning concerning the experimental determination of PVT fluid properties in Thermodynamics topics in engineering degrees. A comparative study on understanding and comprehension has been performed, by means of a pre-test and post-test approach, with participation of a set of 97 students during the 2013-14 academic year. The results show a huge increase on the learning concerning the vapor-liquid equilibria behavior of fluids, as well as the destruction of erroneous preconceptions on the same phenomena.
