Resumen

Paragenetic process regarding speleogenesis is globally accepted and recognised, but still few studies have established its importance in cave enlargement. Along the Cantabrian Margin (northern Iberian Peninsula), research developed during the last decade reported many paragenetic forms. In the present work, firstly, we compile documented paragenetic evidences in caves of the Cantabrian Margin in order to prove that paragenesis could be a relevant process in cave enlargement in this area. Secondly, we analyse possible factors that would favour the paragenesis. We conclude that this process is more extended in the development of Cantabrian karstic systems than expected until now
