Abstract

On January 27th, 2018, Juan Orlando Hernández, of the National Party of Honduras (PNH), assumed his second term as President of Honduras for a period of four years (2018-2021). Hernandez thus became the first re-elected president of this country, in the midst of a political crisis, generated by allegations of electoral fraud and in a convulsive climate, product of the massive opposition protests spread throughout the national territory. At the end of the first year of the government of his second term, Hernández leaves behind the controversies linked to the legitimacy of the electoral process that declared him the winner, and goes through numerous problems. The purpose of this document is to address the current Honduran political panorama, emphasizing the political instability and growing distrust of the parliamentary elites in the institutions, as well as the problems facing the Central American country. For this purpose, data on the attitudes and opinions of the Honduran parliamentary elite, belonging to the Latin American Elites Project (PELA-USAL), of the University of Salamanca (1994-2018) are analyzed.
