Resumen

The biometrical analysis of the anatomical elements of the bovines from Holocene levels of the El Portalón site has been carried out.The scatter plot and discriminant analysis indicate a size decrease from Neolithic to Bronze Age levels. The comparison of these metrical dataset with the data set of bovines from another Iberian and European sites suggests that three bone remains coming from the Neolithic level and one from the Chalcolithic level belong to Bos primigenius, whereas auroch remains from the Bronze Age level were not found. These results and the frequency of the wild versus domestic taxa indicate a subsistence strategy morefocused on the hunting in the Neolithic than in the Chalcolithic and the Bronze Age levels, where the data suggests an almost complete domestic subsistence
