Abstract

During the “Democratic Sexenio" (1868-1874), some of the features that prefigure mass politics can be observed. Inter alia, the new liberties and the universal male franchise outlined a framework in which political mobilization reached unknown levels in the form of demonstrations, meetings and other forms of collective action typical of modern politics. Various political forces demonstrated an important capacity of mobilization. Among them, without a doubt, the republicans stood out, but they were not the only ones, as the analysis of the radical mobilizations proves. For this reason, it is necessary to approach an analysis in a joint and transversal way that systematizes the main forms of mobilization and the degree of participation that these political families managed to obtain.
