Abstract

This article analyzes the body values of 536 First Year Bachillerato students in the Castilla y León region of Spain during the academic year 2017/18 according to their gender. The aim is to describe general trends associated with this profile variable. The instrument of measurement is the test devised by Casares and Collados (1998), which divides body values into 10 categories or body values. Two different procedures are performed to obtain results, by body values maximum frequencies and by the mean body values. Each of these routes leads to obtaining different results in the form of score tables, graphs and hierarchical representations. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics are calculated. The procedure of mean values highlights statistically significant differences in 5 body values out of 10. Both procedures coincide in pointing out the aesthetic and affective-social value as those that entail greater differences between men and women. All this describes the reality in which the students of the 1st baccalaureate conceive their body and give it their value, which opens new critical flanks in education through the values of the body.
