Abstract

Sleep is part of a necessary and natural biological cycle of repair. Sleep disruption during hospitalization is related to discomfort, fatigue, psychological or metabolic problems, This can prolong the duration of the stay. The objetives were review studies that demonstrate the importance of sleep in post- surgical adult patients improving their recovery and reducing the days of hospitalization. A systematic search was carried out selecting studies on interventions to improve sleep quality in postsurgical patients. A total of 163 articles were found, of which 7 were included in the review. 3 with pharmacological and 4 with non-pharmacological interventions applied in the studies on the quality of sleep The application of these interventions produces a positive effect on the subjective quality of sleep of the patients, has a beneficial effect on the patient's well-being helping to a better and shorter hospital stay
