Abstract

This research focuses on the multidisciplinary analysis of the two fundamental images most frequent in Su Shi (Su Dongpo)'s poetry, namely, the image of the water and the moon. Due to its anthropological, mythical, folkloric, and symbolic importance, this work encompasses a panoramic study of the text and the context in which these images are convened. From multiple perspectives and different approaches we have set the objective of delving into the imaginary world of the poet and enriching in turn the imaginary symbolic world of Chinese thought. We start from the analysis of all the possible meanings and connotations of these images in the cultural and literary fields to provide a panoramic view in the study of Su Shi as well as the textual, contextual, philosophical, literary and cultural keys of the Song dynasty. For this, we carry out a particularized treatment of the image of the moon, and that of the water, as well as their combined images
