Resumo

The steel and metallurgical industries generate large amounts of waste as different slags. Even though these slags are mainly recycled in the production of cement and as fillers in the stabilization of soils, there are still large amounts deposited in landfills, with the ensuing environmental impact. This Doctoral Thesis studies the recovery of slag for the fabrication of products based on plaster matrix and as prefabricated, suggesting new forms of construction with this waste as raw material. A comparative study is carried out on the properties of gypsum with mineral fillers from the waste generated in the production of steel, in particular the black slag of Electric Arc Furnace “EAF” generated in Primary Metallurgy, and white slag “LF” from refining processes, in comparison with traditional plaster. Seeking to improve the properties of the final materials, the effect of two additives is deeper analyzed, a super-fluidizer to reduce water absorption (SikaMix®), and a polymer emulsion to improve surface adhesion (SikaLatex®).
