Resumo

The aim of this paper is to highlight the relevance that nowadays has the measurements in soils of enzymatic activities and other measures of microbial activity based on microbial biomass. However, despite these measurements can help to understand most of the processes taking part in soils such as processes of organic matter mineralization or humification, soil degradation, or soil contamination, there is a gap in the standardisation of the analytic methods for determining these parameters. These parameters are influenced by very diverse factors such as pH, temperature, seasonal variation etc… All these aspects have been exhaustively examined and revised in the book edited by the Spanish Group of Soil Enzymology, edited by Mundiprensa, titled “Técnicas de Análisis de Parámetros Bioquímicos en suelos: Medidas de Actividades Enzimáticas y Biomasa Microbiana”.
