Abstract

The generalized conception that considers university scientific production to be inherently and intrinsically international has contributed to the fact that empirical research that takes this problem as its object of study is not prolific. With the purpose of encouraging, promoting, fostering, favoring, organizing and stimulating the internationalization of university research activity in Honduras, this Thesis identifies the different discursive positions that university professors have on the internationalization of research. To this end, a qualitative/structural methodology has been used to analyze the discursive raw material produced in the discussion groups convened according to a structural sample designed ad hoc. Narratives have been produced to show how the internationalization of research in the university is carried out: the conceptions and perceptions that the faculty have of it, what or who is responsible for setting the guidelines or is considered to have the power to establish the strategies for the management of transnational research activity, what are the motivations of the faculty to interact in the international scientific field and what factors facilitate or hinder this interaction. Knowledge of these factors is considered to be very useful as an input for the design, implementation and management of institutional strategies related to the internationalization of research activity.
