Abstract

This article analyzes the impact that the War of the Convention (1793-1795) had for the municipality of Calahorra. An important historical event that was the immediate consequence of the triumph of the French Revolution and was the first stone in the way of the crisis of the Old Regime in Spain during the reign of Carlos IV. Although the city was not directly affected by the battles that took place in the northem trird of the península, indirectly it was submerged in a series of political and socio-economic troubles that revealed Among those who highlighted the effects of the political exile of the refractory clergy who were forced to take refuge in Calahorra.
