Résumé

The agar dilution method was used to determine the bacteriostatic activity of 27 antimicrobial agents (penicillin G, ampicillin, azlocillin, mezlocillin, piperacillin, cefuroxime, cefoperazone, cefotaxime, cefoxitin, N-formimidoyl thienamycin, dihydrostreptomycin, neomycin, spectinomycin, josamycin, spiramycin, chloramphenicol, thiamphenicol, nalidixicacid, pipimedicacid, norfloxacin, lincomycin, metronidazole, tinidazole, rifampin, tetracycline, sulfamethoxipyridazine and trimethoprim) against 62 strains belonging to the genus Peptostreptococcus, 3 belonging to the genus Peptococcus, 42 belonging to the genus Megasphaera, 6 belonging to the genus Acidaminococcus and 1 belonging to the genus Veillonella, all isolated from clinical cases of caprine footrot. The three ureidopenicillins studied (azlocillin, mezlocillin and piperacillin) proved to be the most effective antimicrobial agents. Rifampin activity was good. Moreover , the three cefalosporins studied (cefuroxime, cefoperazone and cefotaxime) and the two macrolide antibiotics studied (josamycin and spiramycin) had good activity.
