Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had relevant effects in different states of the international system. However, if there is a scenario where it has achieved a particularly relevant incidence and prominence, it has been in the case of the United States. The management of COVID-19 has played a relevant role in the politics of the leading power in the international system, both in the field of domestic policy and foreign policy. Likewise, the pandemic has developed in a scenario of political change between administrations apparently as different, as those of Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The aim of this article is to analyze the incidence of COVID-19 both in international politics and in the internal politics of the United States and to find out to what extent it has been an agent of political change as relevant as it appears.
