Abstract
The line from La Fuente de San Esteban to Barca d1Alva and the Linha do Douro is a transnational public work of great heritage value, both in terms of the historical process of its gestation and the technical effort involved in overcoming the slopes of the Águeda river, between the Portuguese station of Barca d'Alva and the Spanish station of La Fregeneda. Apart from its intrinsic value, however, we must also consider its instrumental value since, as a territorial infrastructure, it is the most appropriate support for structuring the different heritage areas of La Raya.
