Zusammenfassung

For decades leadership has been studied from numerous perspectives and in different areas of knowledge; however, the lack of literature on political leadership is surprising. Thus, this article seeks to carry out an approach to political leadership understanding it as a permanent, conflictive and essential fact of behavior in society. After a review of the historical, social, and literary approaches and the existing research, to expose the different approaches that have addressed this issue, we conclude by making a proposal that is useful to understanding political leadership, taking into account the different elements that characterize it, such as personal traits, the environment or the situation in which it is generated, the leaders’ own behavior, and their charisma, and specially a proposed synthesis based on the leader´s trust and attraction towards a shared “Vision”.
