Resumen

This text presents the methodology developed for the virtual recreation of an architectural complex built during the Spanish civil war which is currently ruined. The monument is located in the municipal area of Cilleruelo de Bricia next to the national road that connects the cities of Burgos and Santander located in the north of Spain. The original design of the architectural ensemble included a scenography of walls, stairs, slopes and esplanades occupying an area of approximately 100 m in length with a smooth upward slope of 7.67% from the access on the road to the main sculptural monument at the top. The unique design of the ensemble stood out in the landscape of La Lora moorlands that belong to the natural park Gorges of the Upper Ebro and Rudrón rivers. At this time, only the ruins of the architectural scenery remain. The main sculpture preserves its volume, but it shows important signs of deterioration. This research combines technology and historical research applied to the field of graphic expression. The research work begins with the digitization of the current state of the monument through aerial photogrammetry with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) processed with software based on algorithms of Structure from Motion (SfM). At the same time, the historical documentation is carried out in order to obtain valid information to reconstruct the ruins. Historical documentation has been essential to model a graphic hypothesis and recreate the original state of the architectural ensemble.
