Résumé

Previous studies have described associations between the severity of retinopathy and the degree of renal function in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF). However, correlation between the progression of retinopathy and the concurrent progression of CRF is unknown and has become the main objective of this study. A 3.5 years median follow-up was conducted in a group of patients belonging to the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) study. Associations between changes in the characteristics of the retina and progression of CRI were assessed with univariable and multivariable logistic regression models. In conclusion, progression of retinopathy seems to be associated with a progression of CRF only in the univariable analysis, suggesting that similar risk factors may be affecting the progression of both, the retina and chronic kidney disease.
