Abstract

Based on the reading of the poem Synesthesia (2016) by Mahtem Shiferraw, in which the Ethiopian author takes a synaesthetic journey through the imaginary of her childhood by means of a particular chromatic spectrum, we have collected the emotions generated and the references to which these chromatic ranges refer with the compilation of testimonial texts. Our corpus is made up of a compendium of texts produced by six women of African descent in immersion in the diaspora whose final destination in their migratory itinerary has been London. The central objective is to approach the web of individual emotions that emerge from their testimonies, in order to identify those recurrent representations that link imaginaries despite the linguistic and cultural distance. The results point to a clear emotional cont rast between here and there, to a collective experience resulting from the interaction of these emotions, and to a hybrid construction of identity within the network of affects as an anchorage with the community of origin.
