Resumen

The year 2022 has been declared by the European Council as ‘European Year of Youth’. Because of this, this article seeks to know which role could play the European Union on youth’s future and also whether if there are gender differences about it. Likewise, those differences are analysed in different social and political activities both in the Union as a whole and by different geographical areas. This paper shows how men tend to take part in conventional activities while women seem to feel more distant about political participation. It also unravels the existing gender differences regarding the obstacles to take part in any kind of activity.
