The ASM is a very sensitive indicator of mineral preferred orientation (particularly the stretching lineations) in outer orogenic zones, provided that the susceptibility is dominantly carried by paramagnetic minerals. In this contribution, we introduce preliminary data obtained in the Sto. Domingo anticline (western end of the Pyrenean basal thrust in the External Sierras) in compliance with these premises. We have studied several sites evenly and densely distributed throughout the structure, both in the cylindrical portions of the anticline as well as in the complex related geometries (plunging and conical folds and folded thrust). The magnetic lineation varies from sub-horizontal in the cylindrical southern portions to strongly west-plunging in the western end and in the northern flank of the structure. In contrast, the folded thrust and the eastern portions of the anticline plunge moderately to the east. This pattern attests to the complexity of a structure produced by interference of two non-coaxial stages of deformation.
