Abstract

The elements of the Earth’s magnetic field have undergone significant variations during the archaeologicalperiod. However, the temporal variation of the absolute intensity does not yet show a well-defined trendin South America. This work deals with the magnetic properties study of burnt archeological materials ofdifferent ages and nature. The main objective is to obtain archeomagnetic data that allows to expand thearchaeological database currently available in South America. This would allow improving reference curvesand models of secular variation and chronologically expand the application of Archaeomagnetism as amethod of absolute dating for the last four millennia
