Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to design, apply and evaluate an effective programmed educational intervention project, based on significant learning in a population over 60 years of age, favouring the acquisition of knowledge, competences, and skills in sexual health. Firstly, a systematic review was conducted to supply scientific evidence for the design of the SEXMA program-service as an educational tool. Secondly, the educational program was implemented. Thirdly, a quasi-experimental study was developed, with a pre and post-test design with a control group. Information was obtained with the validated questionnaire on sexual knowledge and attitudes in old age (ASKAS-28). The study population consisted of associations of elderly people, obtaining a sample of 246 participants. The results were evaluated, and statistically significant differences were obtained (p<.05) in increase of knowledge and change of attitude in the experimental group. Finally, we can conclude that the SEXMA program-service is an effective sexual health education instrument in the elderly.
