Abstract
Copper artefacts first appeared in the Spanish Northern Plateau around 3000 BC, during the Las Pozas Horizon. They are mainly local products obtained from foreign ore/metal from the Cantabrian region, Catalonia and Andalusia. It seems that the production was fairly decentralised. However, their deposition in some individual tombs together with other prestige items, such as variscite, reveals that the use of copper objects was socially restricted
