Abstract

This paper examines the presence of Juan del Encina’s poetry in his first theatrical production, published in his Cancionero of 1496. The aim is to establish relations between his poetry and his theatre and to point out the dramaturgical functionality of his poetic musical compositions in his eight sacred and profane theatrical eclogues. In order to do so, I will use the theatrical semiotics, which defends the duality of the theatrical text as a literary text and a spectacular text
