Abstract

Virtual reconstruction is a discipline focused on the graphic and digital representation of buildings and historical environments at some point in their past. Specialists in this field generate three-dimensional models with varying levels of detail, ranging from schematic to hyperrealistic. This thesis addresses the influence of detail levels on decision-making in a virtual reconstruction project, as well as on the improvement of workflow efficiency and effectiveness, adjusting visual realism to factors such as available information, funding, and the presence of specific experts. To achieve this, a virtual reconstruction of Vitoria-Gasteiz in the 12th century was developed at different levels of detail, allowing for results extraction through a mixed analysis. This has enabled conclusions on how each project should tailor its level of detail to its specific conditions.
