Abstract

The main objective of this study has been to analyze the motivations and barriers to physical activity and sport of a representative students sample of the Universidad de Burgos, and to conclude the relationship amount that and the college sport service. 366 students (127 men and 239 women), 21.29 years average age, answered to the ad hoc questionnaire which included, among others data, the validated questionnaire on motivations for physical activity �Goal Content Exercise Questionnaire�, and a questionnaire about barriers to physical activity whose factorial analyses determined three dimensions: obligations, preferences and environment. After the interpretation of the data, it was defined a 48.6% of physical-active students. The main motivation was health care followed by the development of the physical skills. Motivation about social aspects wasn�t found.
