Abstract

Hydrogen technologies are emerging as one of the ways to solve the problem of producing energy without CO2 emissions. At the same time those technologies contribute to improving the people's quality of life. Hydrogen usage has wide possibilities in the production of electricity by mean of fuel cells and nuclear fusion. Research and innovation in this field allows to incorporate some elements of new technologies in higher education. We summarize the social context and status of research and innovation that make hydrogen technologies one item in goals and content of physics courses. We briefly describe the structure of a system for hydrogen production using wind and solar energy. We enunciate and solve some problems that may be of interest in physics courses.
