Abstract

The hybrid solar energy allows to generate electricity and heat in the same solar collector from the solar energy. This work shows the development and construction of several PV/T panels. The use of the PCM inside the panel allows to store heat and control the temperature during its operation. To improve heat transfer in the PCM, it was incorporated heat pipes in a design that transfer heat to the back of the PCM. The different designs have been tested in the testing plant where the effectiveness of the use of PCM in PV/T panels has been observed by increasing their electrical efficiency. Additionally, an extensive comparison of several hybrid solar collector designs, made using CFD simulation, is included. These results have allowed us to understand the operation of hybrid solar technology and improve designs in search of greater electrical and thermal performance.
