Abstract

The environmental problems facing today’s society are still a component that schools must take intoaccount in their structural and academic organisation. The creation of accreditations by institutions inorder to implement didactic content for environmental education at the curricular level is a challengefor schools and teachers. The appearance of the new educational legislation (LOMLOE) has led to theimplementation of learning situations that promote environmental education in all subjects that make upthe curriculum. The secondary school in which the research was carried out has a school garden andnew measures that reinforce pupils’ environmental awareness from a pedagogical perspective. In orderto decide which elements should be reinforced in the classroom, quantitative research was carried outto measure the starting point of the pupils. Aspects have been identified such as: a disaffection towardsresidual electricity consumption, or reuse as a means of waste management. The results show a veryreductionist level of environmental awareness, focussing on recycling and water consumption
