Resumo

The objective of this quasi-experimental study is to learn about the understanding of some characteristics of engineering and engi-neering design methodology presented by teachers in training. For this purpose, a pretest and a postestwere carried out on a sample of 64 students before and after working on engineering design in the subject Research and Innovation in the Learning of the Knowledge of the Environment of the Degree in Primary Education at the University of Burgos (Spain). The results obtained show certain improve-ments in the understanding of some characteristics of engineering and its methodology, although some naiveideas remain that could prevent teachers from applying this methodology in their classes. Therefore, we consider it necessary to continue working in this line in order to take advantage of the potential of this methodology.
