Doctor by the Manchester Metropolitan University with the thesis Advancing Learning and Evolutionary Game Theory with an Application to Social Dilemmas 2008. Supervised by Dr. Nick Gotts, Dr. Bruce Edmonds.

Luis R. Izquierdo is a Full Professor at the University of Burgos, Spain, where he teaches courses related to computing, economics and finance, machine learning, and statistics. Luis studied a 7-year-long Master in Industrial Engineering (awarded the Extraordinary Graduation Prize) and a Bachelor in Business and Administration (graduating with an average grade of 9.5/10) simultaneously. He later worked for over four years as a researcher at the Macaulay Institute in Aberdeen, UK. During this time, he also completed his PhD at the Business School of Manchester Metropolitan University, for which he received an honorable distinction in the European Doctoral Thesis Competition organized by EDAMBA (European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration). Luis R. Izquierdo’s research mainly focuses on evolutionary game theory and complex systems modeling. He has strong expertise in mathematics, computational modeling, statistics, and economics. In these fields, he has published over 30 papers in high-impact international journals (available at http://luis.izqui.org) and has co-authored an open-access book published by University of Wisconsin Pressbooks, titled “Agent-Based Evolutionary Game Dynamics” (available at https://wisc.pb.unizin.org/agent-based-evolutionary-game-dynamics/). Luis has visited and collaborated with several international academic institutions, including: • European University Institute (Florence, Italy), • Santa Fe Institute (Santa Fe, USA), • CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Australia), • University of Western Australia Business School (Perth, Australia), • University of Wisconsin-Madison (Madison, USA), • University of California, Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara, USA), • University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). He has also worked as a consultant for companies such as Valve Corporation (Seattle, USA).
