Abstract

The aim of the present research centers on the identification of typologies that the university students present from the use and knowledge of the strategies of study based on the phases of the model of the Strategic Processing of the Information (PEI) (Martin Del Buey, 2000), as well as a description of the characteristics of each resulting type. The sample is composed by 252 university students, who completed the Questionnaire of Strategic Processing of Information for University students (CPEI - U) (Castellanos, Di Giusto and Martin, 2010) formed by 85 items divided into 8 scales, which are grouped in 3 phases: acquisition or receipt, transformation and recovery of the information, phases that turn into the category of group of subjects. For data analysis an Analysis of Conglomerates has been realized by means of the method K-medias. The last stage of work consisted of the description of the resultant clusters. Results indicate the existence of three different profiles of university students depending on the use of strategies, with a different population size. The Anova's test shows the heterogeneity of the profiles, which indicates that all the variables introduced in the formation of groups turn out to be statistically significant
