The GIR-BBT is a multidisciplinary team made up of researchers from the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Area. This research group focuses its activity on the study and development of biotechnological systems and processes applied to agri-food, the environment and health. Within the agri-food and environmental Biotechnology line, the development of enzymatic technology for food processing, obtaining functional and / or bioactive ingredients from by-products of the food industry, treatment of seeds with biofertilizers and environmental decontamination can be highlighted. The group is also specialized in the application of molecular techniques for food authentication (traceability of olive oil, identification and quantification of plant species ...) and detection and quantification of allergens in food (cross contamination, stability of allergens after processing …). A second line of recent incorporation is the determination of biomarkers associated with personalized treatment in cancer patients.
